Summer Horse Camp at Turkey Creek Stables

Every year, once Hillsborough County Schools are closed for summer, Turkey Creek Stables start their special Summer Horse Camp! This is the time when children and adults alike can partake in lots of simple yet fun horsemanship activities.

Please note: our Summer Camp is VERY popular, and the bookings begin in March! If you have missed this year’s camp, put a reminder in your calendar for next year. Bookings are made by phone: 813-737-1312.

Here is the Camp’s typical daily routine.

  • 7.30 – 8.30 am – arrivals
  • 9.00 – lunch time – a morning ride
  • Lunch
  • Camp activities with horses
  • 2.30 – 5.45 pm – an afternoon ride.
  • 5.45 – 6.00 – departures.

A camp counselor will help the participants to choose the horse for the day. A short morning ride is followed by some free time and a packed lunch. After lunch there are different activities and horse fun around the camp. An afternoon trail ride takes longer, and the camp members must go home immediately upon their return from the ride. And on Fridays we organize a good ol’ hot dog cookout with all the trimmings, so kids and adults do not have not bring their lunch!

Important! Depending on the weather, we may have to shuffle, substitute, or even cancel some activities, to protect both people and horses. We strongly recommend wearing long pants and closed-toed shoes in all weather conditions. Children under the age of 16 must wear helmets to take rides in Medard Park. We encourage our visitors to buy and bring their own helmets.

We look forward to seeing you at our Summer Horse Camp at Turkey Creek Stables!
